James Buchanan ”J.B.” Smith, III, 29 of Stella died March 14, 2018 at home.

J.B. lived his life to the fullest!  To him knowledge was a Must!  He loved life, living, his family and was dedicated to his dog Sam.  He always had a welcoming smile and never met a stranger.  He graduated from Croatan High School, received an Associate Degree from Pitt Community College and worked on several degrees at ECU.  He will be greatly missed by his family and Sam!

He considered hunting, fishing, computers and spending time with his family the joy of his life.  He was a devoted son to dad and mom, James B. “Bucky” Smith, Jr and Teresa Cumbo Smith, both of Stella: He is also survived by Grandparents, James Buchanan “Billy” Smith and Esther Frost Smith of Newport: Grandfather Jason Willis Cumbo of Cape Carteret: Aunt Belinda Cumbo Smith and Uncle William Wayne “Billy” Smith of Stella:  Aunt Lisa “Jaye” CumboPendergast Spring, and husband Paul D. Spring of Swansboro, Robert Jason “R.J.” Pendergast, cousin, of Wilmington: Uncle Robert K. “Bobby” Pendergast, Jr., and wife Sue Pendergast of Cape Carteret. Other relatives along with their families include:  Judy Smith Styron, Esther Smith Ballou, Larry S. Smith, Harry H. Smith, and Richard L. Smith.  He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Martha Waters Cumbo of Cape Carteret.

Funeral services will be Monday March,19,2018 at 2:00PM at the First Baptist Church in Maysville with the Rev. Fallon Melvin officiating. Visitation will follow the service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Swansboro Rotary Foundation P. O. Box 426 Swansboro, NC 28584. Online condolences may be sent to www.saylandfuneralhome.com.
