MAYSVILLE- Katie Elizabeth Yates Dudley, at the age of 94, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from Brook Stone Living Center in Pollocksville, NC. She was a longtime resident, made friends with the employees and visitors, daily, and loved by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Lester Dudley of Maysville after 34 years and remained devoted till her death; her daughter, Wilma Rae Dudley Davis; and grandchild Davis; her parents, Willie and Katie Yates of Maysville; brothers, Albert Yates of Arkansas, Troy Yates, Jimmy Yates, and Linwood Yates all of Maysville; her sister, Estelle Yates Meadows also of Maysville.
Katie was devoted to her husband, and dedicated her life to raising her children, and grandchildren, as she shared those same qualities through her strength, wisdom and humor with family, friends, and community. She was a member of the Maysville United Methodist Church until her health did not allow; however, continued her faith through songs and her Bible Scriptures.
Surviving are her loving and devoted son, Ken Dudley and wife Gail J. Dudley; (4) Grandchildren: grandsons, Johnny (Jodie) Davis III-wife Rosa, Dwight Davis-wife Belinda;granddaughters, Kimberley D. Gillespie-husband Victor, and Sheri Teresa Dudley-Eddie; (6) Great Grandchildren: Kenneth Gillespie- wife Katie, Anthony Davis, Devon Davis, Autumn Gillespie, Michelle Skinner, Ashley Shunk; (6) GreatGreat Grandchildren: Levi Gillespie, James Gillespie, Christopher Davis, Marlee Rae Thigpen, Emily Skinner, Kaitlin Skinner.She was known by her immediate family as: “Grandma”, “Granny”, and “PomPom”, which put a smile on her face and joy in her heart.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, August 12, 2018, family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until services begin at 3:00 p.m. at Sayland Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Meadows officiating. Private burial will follow at Dogwood Cemetery in Maysville, NC. The family will receive friends during other times at the home of Ken and Gail Dudley.
