Charles Burch Obituary

Charles Evans Burch, Sr. ,73, of Pollocksville passed away surrounded by his family on March 22, 2024. Charles was known by his trucking family as Jungleman that he received as his handle. He got this handle because he would drive so fast through the backroads that he shook the trees. He loved to visit his brothers and ride around looking for old cars sitting in backyards. Charles loved drag racing that he started with his brothers in the 1960’s so much he passed that passion to his son when they started Charles Burch & Son Racing in 1999.

Charles loved his wife of 49 years, Frances Burch, more than anything in the world and it comforts his family to know they are together again. He became a grandfather in 2003 and now has a total of 6 with his son, Charles Jr; having two, Cody Alan Burch and Cala Renee Burch and his daughter, Angela Burch Howald, having four, Addison Harper Howald, Robert Evans Howald, Avah Lee Howald and Jackson Wade Howald. He will be truly missed by his children but also by his siblings, Graham and Michael Burch and Peggy Morton and Shirley Edwards and his trucking and racing family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday March 30 at 11:00 AM in the Pollocksville Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Koonce and Rev Sharon Bender officiating. Services entrusted to Sayland Funeral Home in Maysville.
