Martha Louise (Tomlinson) Barber

Martha “Louise” Barber, 84, passed away on January 29, 2023 at Crystal Coast Hospice House. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry “JR” Barber; father, John Tomlinson, brother John Julian Tomlinson; sister Margaret Morgan; sister-in-law, Louise White; brother-in-law, Wade Barber and sister-in-law Pauline Huffman.

She was survived by her daughter Martha Barber Weaver (Craig) of Maysville, NC; mother, Annie Tomlinson of New Bern, NC, sisters Peggy Gray (Ralph Fuller) of Newport, NC, Janet Ingram of New Bern, NC and brother, Fred Tomlinson (Stephanie) of Trenton, NC.  Louise was also survived by her sister-in-law Marie Barber of Maysville, NC as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Louise was born on October 25, 1938 in Smithfield, North Carolina, raised in New Bern, North Carolina and upon marriage to JR made her home in Maysville, North Carolina. JR and Louise farmed in Onslow County and she worked for the Jacksonville Daily News as a route carrier in Onslow County for over 25 years. Louise also worked for Sayland Funeral Home for 13 years until retirement.

The family would like to thank the staff of Cherry Point Bay Nursing Home in Havelock, North Carolina for their kindness and love in caring for Louise. The family would also like to thank the staff of Crystal Coastal Hospice House in Newport.

A celebration of life will be held on February 2, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Grants Creek Baptist Church,  1401 Old 30 Road, Maysville, NC.
