Michael Joseph Duffy

Michael Joseph Duffy, 61, of Pollocksville, passed away on November 14, 2021. Mike is survived by his sister, Patricia “Patty” Duffy, of Sneads Ferry, NC and his beloved furbaby and side-kick, Soonah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aloysius Joseph Duffy and Katherine Vivien Duffy.

Born in Richmond, VA on November 2nd, 1960, Mike was raised on a farm with livestock which consisted of mostly show horses. Although this lifestyle was never of any interest to him, he did eventually find his niche in mechanics. He received a degree from the Nashville Mechanical and Diesel Institute. From 1985-1990, Mike was the General Manager of Max Trax in Charlottesville, VA where he booked gigs for bands and traveled the country to scout new, up and coming bands. Shortly after leaving Max Trax, he moved to Pollocksville, NC where he has been a resident for the past 30 years. While living in Pollocksville, Mike worked for FRC East at Cherry Point, working on jet engines, since 1999. For the past 6 years, Mike served on the Board of Commissioners for the Town of Pollocksville. Pollocksville doesn’t have a lot to offer, but it was his home and he took pride in his small town. It was in Pollocksville where Mike finally found contentment, true happiness and the freedom to just be himself. Living in a small town means you have a whole community that is your family. He didn’t miss many days of riding up to Bell’s Corner, with Soonah riding shotgun, just to hang out and catch up on the latest gossip and all things politics. Mike was a die-hard republican and didn’t mind telling you his opinion on current events. He may have had a “hard” façade, but there was never a doubt that Mike’s heart would lead him to help anyone at the drop of a hat.

His sister and Soonah invite you to celebrate his life on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 11am, at the Trent River boat landing in Pollocksville.
