Rodney Gerald Jones Sr., 75, passed away May 8, 2021 at Premier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jacksonville. Gerald was born May 10, 1945 to Ruby Meadows Jones and Otis Jones. He was a loving Son, Husband, Father, Dada and Uncle to his family. Gerald was a life long member of the Maysville United Methodist Church. He was a retired logger/equipment operator. He was a Carolina Tarheel and Nascar fan. Some of his most cherished pastimes were being with his family and friends where he enjoyed the beach, camping and the coastal living. He loved the outdoors, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and tinkering on old tractors. Gerald had a way of taking "ole junk" and making it new.   Gerald was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy and his brothers, Wiley and Esley Jones He leaves to cherish his memory his son; Rodney G. Jones Jr. and daughter in law, Bobbie Lynn; his grandsons, Rodney Blake Jones and his fiance', Kelsey Wyatt  and Jimmy Smith and his wife Carmen Meadows Smith; his grandchildren, Reagan Grace Jones, River Jones , Isaiah Meadows, Asher Smith and Huxton Smith; his sisters, Betty Creech and Dorothy Mallard of New Bern and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday at the Maysville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Meadows officiating. Visitation will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. Private burial will  be in the Pollocksville Cemetery in Pollocksville. If attending service please wear masks and social distance.
